Delinea’s Documentation team is seeking a Technical Writer to help document our rapidly growing products and integrations. You’ll join a team of 12 technical writers and report to the documentation manager. Our readers range from security engineers and sysadmins (who use our docs to install, configure, and operate our products) to business users (who need to know how to log in to their work environment) and industry analysts (who compare our products with our competitors). You will own creation and revision of a variety of topics on software configuration and daily usage. You’ll work closely with product managers, developers, and support agents. What you´ll bring You bring two key strengths: writing/editing, and technical investigation. Writer and editor: You always know how to improve the structure and clarity of what you read. You immediately recognize when something sounds wrong, and you know how to fix it. When you see a technical demo, even if you don’t know the technology well, you grasp the general concepts and know the clearest way to describe them. Technical investigator: You know how to intelligently search for answers, what questions are worth asking to whom and when, and how to research a new technology (with or without AI) before you interview a SME. Most of all, you can read technical content with a “user mindset” and easily spot gaps and fuzzy areas for improvement. Because of these strengths, you have studied many companies' technical docs, and you have strong opinions about what makes a user guide easy to follow. You might use AI for research and outlining, but you write and verify every word. What you´ll need • Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, English, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience. • 3–5 years of technical documentation experience for software or technology products, or related experience in support engineering, QA, system administration, or UX. • Professional fluency in written English (C1 or higher). • Experience documenting enterprise IT or security software is ideal. Technical Skills and Tool Proficiency • Familiarity with IT and security foundations (such as Active Directory, OIDC, SAML, networking, OS requirements), or the ability to learn them quickly. • Experience with at least one help authoring tool (such as MadCap Flare, Adobe RoboHelp, Paligo, Oxygen XML Editor, or Adobe FrameMaker) or a docs-as-code toolchain (such as Markdown, Git, and MkDocs, Docusaurus, or Hugo). • Experience with our specific tools (MadCap Flare, Flare Online, and Git) is a plus, not a requirement. You can teach yourself new tools and complex software products. • Comfort with basic HTML formatting. Complex coding is not required. • Experience using AI/LLMs for research and proofreading your drafts, with a strong ability to find factual errors in AI output and the ability to revise it for clarity. Writing and Documentation • Write and test guides for software configuration and daily usage. • Write task-based topics from design docs, specs, and SME (subject matter expert) interviews. • Audit existing topics in a product area. Prioritize and complete updates. • Apply the Microsoft Writing Style Guide. • Detect readability and content flaws in your own drafts and in the drafts of others. Collaboration and Communication • Interview engineers and product managers to gather product details. • Build relationships with product managers, developers, support agents, and internal stakeholders. • Work closely with other writers. Ask for feedback. Offer feedback. • Receive mentorship from senior writers. Grow toward ownership of a product area. Project and Process Management • Understand how to write for features delivered in a rapid, Agile process. • Manage and report on your own workload. • Comfortable attempting to solve problems in a self-guided manner before asking for help. Conversely, know when it is most efficient to stop and ask for help. • Communicate proactively about internal processes that need adjustment. Personal Qualities and Abilities • Self-directed learner who seeks out new information. • Curiosity about internal tools and our product concepts. • Keen eye for detail. Keep documentation free from errors. Keep style and tone consistent. • Quick adaptation to changes in product features and services. Why work at Delinea?
