And it’s how we’re reinventing what’s possible every day.</div> As an SDET/Dev-QA Engineer at Plume, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring the functionality and performance of our edge security products. Collaborating closely with Dev & Automation teams, you’ll develop and execute comprehensive test plans, identify and document bugs, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our QA processes. Responsibilities <ul> <li>Design and develop automated test cases for validating DPI engines and secure network traffic inspection.</li> <li>Testing real-world client/router/cloud interactions for deep testing of L2–L7 network behavior.</li> <li>Validate TLS/SSL traffic inspection and network traffic classification techniques.</li> <li>Write tests to ensure accurate handling of malformed packets, evasive traffic, and intrusion detection patterns.</li> <li>simulate security vulnerabilities (e.g., DNS tunneling, spoofing, port scanning) and evaluate detection effectiveness.</li> <li>Leverage and extend DPI tools (e.g., nDPI, Suricata, Zeek) for custom validation use cases.</li> <li>Partner with firmware developers to validate & test the access control logic.</li> </ul> Qualifications <ul> <li>5+ years of experience as an SDET, Security QA Engineer, or related role in networking/security domains.</li> <li>Strong programming/scripting in Python for test automation and tooling.</li> <li>Deep understanding of TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, TLS, HTTP/HTTPS, NAT, VPNs, and tunneling protocols.</li> <li>Hands-on with packet sniffers (e.g., Wireshark) and PCAP analysis.</li> <li>Solid grasp of firewall behavior, DPI concepts, SSL inspection, and secure communication protocols.</li> <li>Strong debugging skills: ability to spot design flaws, race conditions, and performance bottlenecks in complex architectures</li> <li>Ability to break software systems in creative and useful ways</li> </ul> Preferred Qualifications <ul> <li>Familiarity with nDPI, Suricata or commercial DPI stacks.</li> <li>Exposure to MITM techniques, threat simulation frameworks</li> <li>Prior experience testing IoT or Wi-Fi edge devices (e.g., OpenWRT, OpenSync, embedded Linux).</li> <li>Background in cybersecurity, network security, or traffic classification.</li> <li>Experience in testing cloud-native networking products</li> </ul> <div class="content-conclusion">About Plume As the creator of the only open, hardware-independent, cloud-controlled experience platform for ISPs and their subscribers, Plume partners with over 400 ISP customers, including some of the world’s largest such as Comcast, Charter, Liberty Global, and J:COM.  Using OpenSync, the most widely supported open-source, silicon-to-cloud framework for smart spaces, Plume’s software-defined network allows ISPs to decouple their service offerings from hardware and rapidly curate and deliver new services over a multi-vendor, open-platform architecture.   Plume is an equal opportunity workplace that maintains a continuing policy of nondiscrimination in all employment practices and decisions, ensuring equal employment opportunities for all qualified individuals without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sex, national origin, age, physical or mental disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, pregnancy, childbirth or related individual conditions, medical conditions (as defined by state law), military or veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local law. </div>
