About Rebar Rebar is building the AI operating system for commercial HVAC, Electrical, and Plumbing. Over the past year our quoting platform has processed tens of thousands of projects across North America and we’re continuing that growth. Our customers include many of the top firms in the industry. Some of these companies are running billion dollar construction projects on workflows that still look like it's 1985. Construction is 10% of GDP and still massively underserved by software. We are changing that. We raised a $14M Series A from leading construction tech investors and are entering our next phase of growth. We are building a set of AI native products that will define how this industry operates. About the Engineering Org We're in the age of Ai and the role of the engineer is rapidly changing. We're aware. We're being very intentional of ensuring we adapt with it. We are fostering an engineering culture of growth and development. We strongly emphasize care of craft and winning together. Our core values are: Everyone operates like an owner Find a way We win together That being said the whole company still works really hard! This is something that you should read and internalize. This might not be the place for everyone. About the Role We're looking for a platform engineer to own the infrastructure that powers Rebar. We have numerous services running on EKS as well as on AWS managed services. That being said, there is some organization work that needs to be done as we continue to scale: hardening our system given our SOC2 Type II requirements, environment partitioning, consolidating simpler lambdas into our monolithic Golang service. This role will require determination and a good attitude and mentorship of the rest of the team. I cannot state this enough - I will ensure that you leave as a better and more experienced engineer than when you joined. You will get insights into building a SOC2 Type II compliant org, scaling a company from hundreds of companies, to thousands, and watching traffic scale accordingly. Responsibilities Drive performance across our entire infra stack and application layer Own SOC 2 infrastructure controls Take observability fleet-wide Finish environment partitioning Optimize cloud spend Own the cloud footprint Own production operations What We’re Looking For At a high level, we’re looking for the technical expertise mixed with the passion and spark. You should actually give a shit. You should be excited to walk me through how you’re going to run through a data migration without a single packet getting dropped or customer firing off an Intercom ticket. But more specifically, here are some required qualifications. Qualifications 6+ years in platform, infrastructure, or DevOps engineering AWS experience (ECS/Fargate, lambdas, DDB, SQS, Cognito) Kubernetes experience Strong Terraform and/or AWS CDK experience in production environments Track record designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions preferred) Experience with containerization - Docker, ECR, multi-stage builds, image optimization Experience operating distributed systems in production Comfort with Go (and/or Python) (our backend and infrastructure tooling are Python-heavy) Nice to Have Experience with real-time systems, WebSocket infrastructure, or event-driven architecture Modal + GPU familiarity We will have a corresponding ML infra engineer, but familiarity with GPU scheduling and orchestration is a plus Comfort with Postgres We’re steadily consolidating on utilizing Postgres for much of our OLTP (and sadly some of our OLAP layer atm) Experience with Temporal (or Dagster or another workflow orchestration tool) Worked in a small, high-ownership engineering team where you set the standard rather than inherited one. Compensation and Benefits Salary : Competitive base salary Equity : Meaningful equity package, commensurate with experience Benefits : Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage Perks : agentic tooling budget lunches provided, dinners provided (after a set time) great culture and office banter
