Within our Guest & Host organization is the Communication and Connectivity team. The communication branch owns the tools used daily by millions of guests and hosts, including Messaging (2nd most used surface within Airbnb), push notifications, and other deep integrations with key operating system features. The connectivity branch is responsible to connect hosts together through various ways, it also built a platform to connect 3rd party partners from various domains with Airbnb. The communication and connectivity team has engineers cover multiple disciplines including web engineers, native engineers, backend engineers, data engineers, and machine learning engineers. The role posted here will focus on general backend architecture and application of AI technologies.  The Difference You Will Make: As a senior technical individual contributor, you will partner closely with our senior leaders across the broader technical organization. Although you will be at one of our highest levels of seniority, all individual contributors at Airbnb are Software Engineers which means we expect you to be hands on and contribute code. A Typical Day: <ul> <li>Working closely with cross functional teams including design, product marketing, prototyping and others to envision a unique, delightful, extensible guest-host communication  experience.</li> <li>Envision and build a scalable foundation for reaching out hosts in need through notifications </li> <li>Exploring ways to uplift our partner integration platform leveraging the advanced AI technology</li> <li>Understand how key technical decisions will drive business outcomes and deliver frameworks and platforms that improve delivery with high-quality to those outcomes</li> <li>Performing design and code reviews and advise/mentor other engineers at Airbnb </li> </ul> Your Expertise: <ul> <li>12+ years relevant experience in a fast paced, high growth tech environment</li> <li>BS, MS or PhD in Computer Science or related field</li> <li>Experience building, leading, and architecting full-stack products and systems at enterprise scale with a great impact</li> <li>Experience in applying modern artificial intelligence technologies to products and development cycles</li> <li>Technical leadership: hands on experience leading project teams, setting technical direction and strategy, and working cross functionally with Product and Data Science teams</li> <li>Strong communication and collaboration skills. Examples of working across teams and organizations on technical initiatives.</li> </ul> Your Location: This position is US - Remote Eligible. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands.
