We are seeking a hands-on Senior Full-Stack & Cloud Engineer to take technical ownership of an internally developed web application and transition it into a secure, reliable, and maintainable production solution. The application was rapidly developed using Claude Code and VS Code and will initially support approximately 100 internal employees. The successful candidate will assess and strengthen the existing codebase, establish appropriate engineering and security standards, implement a sustainable hosting and deployment model, and provide ongoing technical support and enhancements. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who is comfortable working with AI-assisted development while bringing the engineering judgment required to ensure production applications are secure, maintainable, and reliable. <h3>About the Role</h3> <ul> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Take technical ownership of the existing application, including reviewing and understanding the AI-generated codebase.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Identify technical debt, security vulnerabilities, and architectural risks, and refactor where appropriate without unnecessarily rebuilding working parts.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Develop and maintain front-end, back-end, API, and database functionality, and build new features as business needs evolve.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Establish coding, documentation, testing, and code-review standards.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Design and maintain simple, secure, cost-effective hosting with separate development/test and production environments.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Implement automated CI/CD pipelines with a documented deployment and rollback process.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Manage configuration, secrets, certificates, and domains, and establish backup and recovery processes.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Implement monitoring, logging, error tracking, and alerting, and track reliability, performance, and cost.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Implement SSO-based authentication, role-based access control, least-privilege permissions, and audit logging.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Conduct a production-readiness assessment, execute a prioritized remediation plan, and partner with IT/security to meet organizational requirements.</li> </ul> <h3 style="line-height: 1.4;">About You </h3> <ul> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with significant experience owning production applications.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Strong full-stack development capabilities using modern web technologies.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Experience inheriting, evaluating, and improving existing codebases.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Experience deploying and supporting applications in a major cloud or managed hosting environment.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Strong understanding of Git-based software-development workflows.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Working knowledge of relational databases, database security, migrations, and backups.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Experience implementing authentication, authorization, SSO, OAuth and/or OpenID Connect.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Strong understanding of application-security fundamentals, secrets management, and least-privilege access.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Experience implementing production logging, monitoring, alerting, and error tracking.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Ability to independently troubleshoot production issues across the application and infrastructure stack.</li> </ul> Preferred Experience <ul> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Experience supporting internal enterprise applications.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Experience integrating applications with Microsoft Entra ID/Azure AD, Okta, Google Workspace, or similar enterprise identity platforms.</li> <li style="font-size: 12pt;">Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Pulumi.</li> </ul> Hourly Pay Range: $50.00 -$60.00 USD We recognize that everyone carries a unique set of valuable skills and experiences.
