They take a selective approach to bidding, prioritizing quality, accuracy, and long-term client relationships over bid volume. With a lean and collaborative leadership team, they are looking to expand their estimating capacity by hiring a dedicated Project Estimator who can help increase the number of bids submitted each week while maintaining exceptional accuracy. About the Role We are seeking a detail-oriented Project Estimator with experience in U.S. commercial construction estimating , particularly within fire alarm, low-voltage, infrastructure, or structured cabling projects . In this role, you will prepare accurate project estimates by analyzing plans, performing material takeoffs, estimating labor, and developing competitive proposals for projects ranging from $20,000 to over $2 million . You will work closely with company leadership, with final proposals reviewed by the COO prior to submission. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys technical estimating, thrives in a collaborative environment, and wants to focus exclusively on estimating without project management responsibilities. Key Responsibilities Review construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents. Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial and industrial projects. Perform material takeoffs for: Fire alarm systems Structured cabling Network infrastructure Security camera systems Estimate labor, equipment, subcontractor, and material costs. Prepare competitive bid proposals for General Contractors and direct clients. Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to obtain pricing. Ensure estimates are accurate, complete, and submitted on schedule. Collaborate closely with the COO throughout the bid review process. Manage multiple estimates simultaneously while meeting deadlines. Maintain organized estimating documentation and project records. Qualifications Required Minimum 2 years of experience estimating U.S. commercial construction projects. Experience estimating low-voltage, structured cabling, infrastructure, fire alarm, electrical, or related construction projects. Civil Engineering degree or equivalent construction industry experience. Strong understanding of commercial construction drawings and specifications. Excellent written and verbal English communication skills. Highly organized with strong attention to detail. Able to work full-time during U.S. Central Time business hours. Preferred Experience estimating fire alarm systems. Experience with structured cabling and security camera installations. Experience bidding projects for General Contractors. Experience preparing estimates exceeding $1 million. 5–10+ years of estimating experience is highly valued. Tools & Software Experience with estimating software is preferred. Familiarity with construction plans, takeoff tools, Microsoft Excel, and PDF markup software is highly beneficial. What Success Looks Like Within your first few months, you'll help increase the company's estimating capacity from approximately 1–2 bids per week to 5–10 bids per week, enabling the team to pursue more commercial opportunities while maintaining exceptional accuracy and competitive pricing.
