About Praxis

Praxis began in 2011 with a desire to support and equip Christian entrepreneurs and has grown steadily into a 30+ person, NY-centric team advancing the redemptive imagination and action of founders, funders, and innovators motivated by their faith to address the major issues of our time. As a $15M+/year nonprofit with ambitious growth plans, we're expanding our venture-building work globally, organizing around the major issues of our time, and building media and more to activate the redemptive potential of Christians around the world. We see our team as the first carriers of the mission, building an organization that is great to work at, excellent in its craft, and redemptive in its finances as well as its programs.

Role Vision

Praxis supports Christian founders, funders, and creative leaders doing redemptive work in business, the nonprofit world, and wider culture. We are building out our media and creative capability, and we are hiring a senior creative leader to lead it.

This person leads our in-house media production team: the team that imagines, develops, and produces the work Praxis puts into the world, including films and content series, brand and design, writing, and campaigns, and gets that work in front of the right audiences. They report to the Managing Partner of Media, Brand and Product and, as a Partner at Praxis, serve as one of our most senior leaders. They inherit a strong, high-craft entrepreneurial team covering design, editorial, content and creative development, and studio operations. They will develop and grow the studio into something that operates like a best-in-class agency and production house.

In support of, and partnership with, the Managing Partner; Media, Brand and Product, this role supports the cultivation of the Praxis brand across every place our audiences meet it, and leads how Praxis Media is adapted for the regions we serve around the world.

We are looking for a seasoned creative producer, integrator, and team builder with at least fifteen years of experience across agency, in-house, and/or entrepreneurial settings. They have excellent creative taste, but they lead more like a creative producer than a hands-on creative director. Their first instinct is to integrate and implement the work, and coach and develop the growing creative team.

About this Role

Praxis Media is one of our biggest re-risks of our next chapter. Our ambition is a media studio that makes work people remember and return to: films and content series, brand and design, editorial writing, and campaigns with the craft to move people and the substance to awaken redemptive imagination and turn it into action. We want a studio with the range and rigor of a great agency, the craft of a production house, and a trusted network of gifted creative partners we can bring in for the right projects.

This is a Media and Brand role, and both halves matter. Alongside leading the studio's creative output, this person keeps the Praxis brand coherent and alive across every audience touchpoint, works with the Managing Partner and across teams to integrate the brand everywhere people meet it, and leads how our media moves into new regions and languages as we grow.

We are not looking for someone who needs to prove themselves. We are looking for a humble yet ambitious leader, high in EQ and low in ego, who has already done excellent creative work at scale and now wants to build something new and transformative. Someone who can sit with us and wonder about what Praxis Media could become, dream and spar over the vision, and then bring the tenacity and rigor to make it real. Someone whose instinct is to draw out the best in a team and give people what they need to do the best work of their lives.

The orientation of this role leans creative producer rather than creative director. We want someone with great taste and strong instincts whose energy goes into making the work happen, building the engine that produces it, and growing the people who do it, more than into being the sole incubator of ideas or creative author.

What Success Looks Like

If this role is working, within the first two to three years we expect to see:

A creative network that runs as a true agency and production house, carrying work from first idea to finished, distributed output, with the right balance of full-time, part-time, freelance, and strategic agency partners.

Strong leaders on this team, across design, copywriting, content and creative development, studio operations, and a (to be hired) marketing and integration leading, growing and doing the best work of their careers in an operationally redemptive setting.

A trusted bench of mission-aligned creative partners across disciplines, including film, design, writing, and music, that the studio can mobilize when a project calls for it.

Flagship, imaginative, distinctive Praxis Media work that meets a world-class creative bar, reaches the audiences we're focused on, and gets finished and out the door, including the kind of documentary-style storytelling that can stand on its own.

Clear creative and brand coherence across every Praxis audience touchpoint.

Praxis Media reaches new audiences in the regions we serve, with a working localization approach for Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe, and South America.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Creative Vision & Studio Leadership

Partner with the studio team & Managing Partner to set and carry the creative and editorial vision for Praxis.

Build and lead the studio so that strategy, development, production, and distribution work as one integrated capability.

Hold the standard for taste and quality across everything the studio makes, and keep asking what could be better.

Creative Production & Producing

Serve as creative producer across the studio's slate, from films and series to brand work and campaigns.

Roll up your sleeves on the detailed work of creative development and production when the work calls for it.

Carry work through to the finish, and build the systems, workflows, and tools that let the studio produce consistently, at volume, and at a high bar.

Team Building & Leadership Development

Lead, coach, and develop the growing media creative & production team: the Sr. Director, Design; the Director, Content & Creative; Principal; Managing Editor, and the Manager, Studio Operations.

Build out the rest of the studio team and model as the work grows.

Give people the support, clarity, and steadiness they need to do their best work, and establish the operating rhythms a growing studio needs to run well.

Distribution, Localization & Global Reach

Ignite how Praxis Media's work reaches and grows its audiences across channels, including with strategic partners.

Drive the localization roadmap that adapts Praxis Media for the regions we serve, including Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe, and South America.

Work closely with the Marketing and Operations leader to connect strong creative to real reach, engagement, and impact.

Creative Partnerships

Build and steward relationships with mission-aligned creative partners, studios, and freelancers across disciplines.

Decide what the studio makes in-house and what it produces through partners, and tend those partnerships with care.

Identify and cultivate relationships with mission-aligned partners and channels to reach new and engaged audiences.

Brand Stewardship, Cultivation & Integration

Alongside, Managing Partner; MBP, serve as the primary leader responsible for brand stewardship and cultivation across the broadest Praxis ecosystem.

Work with the Managing Partner and across the team to integrate the brand across all audience touchpoints.
