Marketing Lead

About the Role This is a hands-on, 0→1 brand-building role at an early-stage ambient AI startup, sitting at the intersection of Product, Engineering, and a global marketing team. You'll own US brand execution end-to-end — defining narrative, voice, and market position in a competitive AI landscape — while feeding real audience signal back into what the company builds next. What You'll Do Identify and validate the core early-adopter audience through lightweight experiments, qualitative interviews, and community signal-reading. Develop a sharp, defensible brand narrative and voice tailored to AI-native and power-user segments. Write, test, and iterate on marketing assets — copy, positioning, and brand identity — directly and independently. Test messaging angles across market segments and double down on what demonstrably resonates. Own platform and channel sequencing decisions, choosing where to establish a real presence and when. Act as an active stakeholder with Product and Engineering, translating audience insight into roadmap influence. Coordinate with the global branding and marketing team to keep US execution aligned as the brand evolves. What We're Looking For 3+ years building brand narrative and voice from scratch for consumer or prosumer products — not inheriting existing guidelines. Demonstrated experience running lightweight brand validation experiments (messaging tests, qualitative interviews, community signal) to surface and confirm early-adopter audiences. Strong writing skills with a track record of turning product theses into copy that lands with specific audiences. Experience making platform and sequencing decisions independently, based on brand fit and audience analysis. Comfort owning ambiguous brand strategy questions and executing without a fully scripted playbook. A clear, reasoned point of view on what good brand work looks like in the AI and consumer space. Experience collaborating with product and engineering teams as an upstream stakeholder influencing roadmap priorities. Background in brand or positioning work at consumer AI or productivity applications (e.g. note-taking, PKM, or ambient AI tools) is a strong plus. Familiarity with second brain, personal knowledge management (PKM), or ambient AI user personas is a plus. An existing personal following on X/Twitter or LinkedIn in the AI/productivity space is a plus. Bilingual proficiency in English and Mandarin is a plus. Location Hybrid (3 days per week in-office) in the San Francisco Bay Area, California . Visa sponsorship is not available.
