About Infera Our customers are revolutionizing medtech — building the devices that will define the next generation of patient care. Infera gives them the platform to do it: an AI-native quality management system that accelerates the development of compliant, safe medical devices without slowing down the people building them. We're a venture-backed startup with paying customers already in production. The problems we work on sit at the intersection of regulated industry, applied AI, and serious software craft. Stack: React + TypeScript · Python · Distributed AI workflows The role You're a software engineer first. You write production code — features, endpoints, UI — and you also own the test infrastructure that lets a small team ship fast without breaking things. Quality is where you start because it's the fastest way to learn the whole system, but you'll be building from day one and taking on real feature work as you ramp. You'll pair closely with senior engineers who care about helping you grow, and everything you write goes to production. You'll have dedicated time set aside to contribute beyond testing — and that share grows as you ramp. The trajectory is full SWE, and you'll already be doing the work. What you'll do Ship real product code — UI components, API endpoints, and the features themselves — alongside senior engineers Build and maintain the test suites that keep us honest — unit, integration, and end-to-end across the React frontend and Python backend Own test infrastructure and CI: fixtures, test data, flaky-test triage, and the pipelines everyone depends on Build internal tooling that makes the whole team faster Review code, get reviewed, and improve quickly through tight feedback loops Take on increasing ownership as you ramp — from hardening a feature area to owning one end to end What we're looking for 1–3 years of experience building and testing software Deep Experience in E2E testing frameworks (e.g. Playwright) Good mastery over SOTA AI tooling Solid fundamentals in TS, JS, and Python You like building things and want to ship features, not just test them A real instinct for how software breaks — you think in edge cases A bias toward shipping, and the ambition to grow into a full SWE role How we work Highly collaborative, dynamic team. Small group, low process, tight feedback loops; you'll talk to customers and see your work in production. Regulated, but not bureaucratic. We build software for medical devices, so correctness genuinely matters — but we keep process light and let good engineering carry the weight. Room to grow. Testing is the entry point, not a ceiling. We deliberately carve out time for you to take on feature work, and that share increases as you prove yourself — this is a track into a full SWE role, not a holding pattern. Remote-first. We're fully remote for now, with a preference for candidates in LA or NY so we can spend time together in person. We use AI intelligently and expect engineers to be fluent with AI tools. Competitive salary + meaningful equity — every engineer is an owner — plus health/dental.
