Head of Product Design

We’ve been conditioned to have low expectations for the user experience in healthcare, accepting clunky portals, confusing workflows, and endless toil as the cost of doing business.</p> <p data-start="718" data-end="984">At Thatch, we believe great design is a missing catalyst for fixing healthcare. We’re rebuilding health benefits from the ground up to create a personalized, transparent, and genuinely joyful experience for every employee, employer, broker, and partner we work with.</p> <p data-start="986" data-end="1291">As our Head of Design, you’ll lead product and brand design at Thatch and help us set a new bar for what healthcare can look and feel like. You’ll lead and grow an exceptional design team, set the creative direction for the company, and bring consumer-grade craft and polish to every experience we create.</p> <div class="mt-10"> <h3 class="mb-4 text-xl font-extrabold tracking-tight text-gray-900 sm:text-3xl md:text-2xl">What you'll do</h3> <ul class="ml-4 list-disc"> <li data-section-id="1w4gz7u" data-start="1313" data-end="1411">Set and execute a design strategy across our product, website, brand, and marketing experiences.</li> <li data-section-id="1v6ectj" data-start="1412" data-end="1492">Lead, develop, and grow a high-performing team of product and brand designers.</li> <li data-section-id="8ekrkj" data-start="1493" data-end="1606">Set a high bar for craft and create a culture of thoughtful, direct design critique and continuous improvement.</li> <li data-section-id="1vzfy5a" data-start="1607" data-end="1721">Think from first principles about complex healthcare experiences and make them simple, intuitive, and beautiful.</li> <li data-section-id="1d80qra" data-start="1722" data-end="1858">Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Marketing, Sales, and Operations to understand our users and ship high-impact work quickly.</li> </ul> </div> <div class="mt-10"> <h3 class="mb-4 text-xl font-extrabold tracking-tight text-gray-900 sm:text-3xl md:text-2xl">Background we're looking for</h3> <ul class="ml-4 list-disc"> <li data-section-id="1l6jkso" data-start="1888" data-end="1976">7+ years of design experience, including 3+ years leading and developing design teams.</li> <li data-section-id="nsa9lh" data-start="1977" data-end="2070">Exceptional design taste and a track record of delivering high-quality product experiences.</li> <li data-section-id="olibtt" data-start="2071" data-end="2148">Significant experience as both an individual contributor and design leader.</li> <li data-section-id="yayhnf" data-start="2149" data-end="2245">Experience setting design direction and raising the quality bar across a team or organization.</li> <li data-section-id="1i1lxl1" data-start="2246" data-end="2318">Experience operating in a fast-moving, high-growth technology company.</li> </ul> </div> <div class="mt-10"> <h3 class="mb-4 text-xl font-extrabold tracking-tight text-gray-900 sm:text-3xl md:text-2xl">Experience we’d be particularly excited about</h3> <ul class="ml-4 mt-4 list-disc"> <li data-section-id="1e4nz9b" data-start="2369" data-end="2419">Experience across both product and brand design.</li> <li data-section-id="i4chml" data-start="2420" data-end="2475">Experience simplifying complex or regulated products.</li> <li data-section-id="xcr6f1" data-start="2476" data-end="2529">A background spanning both B2B and B2C experiences.</li> <li data-section-id="10tg1jd" data-start="2530" data-end="2597">Experience working in a fast-moving agency or studio environment.</li> <li data-section-id="fcqi6u" data-start="2598" data-end="2651">Healthcare experience is helpful, but not required.</li> </ul> </div> <div class="mt-10"> <h3 class="mb-4 text-xl font-extrabold text-gray-900 sm:text-3xl md:text-2xl">What to expect</h3> <p>We aim to keep the process thoughtful, rigorous, and efficient.
