Our goal is to build a communication platform that is: Free and accessible worldwide Private and end-to-end encrypted Free from advertising, tracking and selling user data Designed to connect Muslims across countries, cultures and languages The foundation of a Muslim super-app The role We are looking for an exceptional senior engineer to join our existing team and help us build Ihsan Connect into a secure, reliable and globally scalable messenger. This is a hands-on engineering role. You will work across the React Native mobile application and Go backend, improving the existing product and helping us prepare it for significant international growth. We are especially interested in engineers who have helped build a real messaging or communication app. What you will work on One-to-one and group messaging Real-time message delivery using WebSockets Message ordering, retries, deduplication and delivery status Offline message synchronization and local storage End-to-end encryption and secure key management Multi-device sessions and account recovery Media, file and voice-message delivery Push notifications through APNs and FCM Voice and video calling using WebRTC, STUN and TURN Blocking, reporting, moderation and abuse prevention Backend reliability, monitoring and horizontal scaling Application performance across iOS and Android App Store and Google Play releases Our technology React Native TypeScript Go PostgreSQL WebSockets WebRTC iOS and Android APNs and FCM You do not need to be equally experienced with every technology, but you should have deep experience with mobile or real-time messaging systems and be capable of taking ownership across the product. What we are looking for Senior-level software engineering experience Strong React Native and TypeScript experience Experience shipping and maintaining production mobile applications Strong understanding of real-time messaging architecture Experience with WebSockets, push notifications and offline synchronization Understanding of mobile background behavior on iOS and Android Ability to design reliable systems and investigate difficult production problems Strong product judgment and ownership mentality Clear written and really good spoken English Comfortable working remotely in a fast-moving founding environment Strong advantages Previously built or substantially contributed to a messenger Experience with Go and PostgreSQL WebRTC, STUN and TURN experience End-to-end encryption or Signal Protocol experience Multi-device identity and key-management experience Experience supporting large numbers of concurrent connections Security, anti-spam or trust-and-safety experience Experience building products for international or emerging markets Personal alignment with our mission to strengthen and unite the Ummah Why join Ihsan?
