Digital-native players are moving just as fast on AI-powered experiences, agentic commerce, and real-time payments. Both build much of their software in-house, and AI coding assistants and agents are accelerating how fast they build and ship. Cloudflare is looking for an Enterprise Architect (Financial Services), to help them make that shift. You'll lead with AI and modern application architecture, open new conversations with developers, platform-engineering, and AI leaders, and turn them into new business. You'll work alongside the Account Executives and Customer Engineers who own each account. <h2>What You'll Do</h2> <ul> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Expand our footprint: Grow Cloudflare into new business units and engineering teams across our financial-services customers, leading with AI and modern application architecture, in partnership with the account team.</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Shape the long-term agenda: Advise C-suite, application, and platform leaders on their multi-year technology agendas. Run executive and architecture workshops that produce roadmaps, reference architectures, and business cases co-developed with their teams, positioning Cloudflare as a foundational platform, not a point solution.</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Lead on AI: Advise on how institutions build, secure, and govern AI applications, agents, and features, and how AI is changing developer productivity.</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Modernize applications and platforms: Help teams re-architect customer applications and internal developer platforms, from migration strategy to getting developers to adopt the new platform at scale.</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Design in security: Help architect applications, APIs, and AI workloads that are secure by design and meet financial-services risk and resilience expectations.</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Build to prove it: Create prototypes, demos, and reusable assets that show what's possible on Cloudflare, and share them so the whole team can use them.</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Be a voice in the industry: Represent Cloudflare at industry events, executive roundtables, and sector forums, publish architectural guidance on key transformation themes, and bring what you learn back to Product and Engineering.</li> </ul> <h2>What You'll Bring</h2> <ul> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Experience: 10+ years in customer-facing technical roles, such as solutions architect, enterprise architect, field CTO, or technical consultant, working with large, complex organizations.</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Boardroom to whiteboard: Credible in a boardroom conversation about digital strategy, and able to go deep on architecture with engineering teams. You've led executive workshops or technology strategy sessions.</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">A builder at heart: You've built and shipped an application, whether web, serverless, or AI-powered, professionally or on your own time.</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Software development and modern architecture: Deep understanding of microservices, APIs, event-driven systems, CI/CD, serverless, and edge compute.</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">AI applications and agents: Hands-on experience with LLMs, RAG, MCP, AI gateways, and AI security.</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Additional depth in at least two of the following, including one in security:</li> <ul> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Application and API security: WAF, bot management, DDoS, API protection</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Zero Trust and SASE: identity-based access, secure access to AI tools, data loss prevention</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Network services: network-level DDoS protection, connectivity, telco integration</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Application performance: caching, latency, scaling at the edge</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Data protection and sovereignty: data residency, encryption and key management, post-quantum readiness</li> </ul> </ul> <h2>Preferred Experience</h2> <ul> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Financial services: Experience with banks, insurers, wealth managers, payments, or capital markets, and familiarity with Canadian regulatory expectations such as OSFI B-10, B-13, E-21, and E-23.</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Developer platforms at scale: Experience selling or rolling out developer tools, internal developer platforms, or AI coding assistants in large engineering organizations.</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Cloud platforms: Working knowledge of AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.</li> </ul> <ul> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Agentic commerce: Familiarity with agentic payments and protocols such as UCP, AP2, and x402.</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Thought leadership: Talks, blog posts, open-source contributions, or published architectural guidance.</li> </ul> <ul> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Cloudflare Experience: You've built something on Cloudflare Workers.</li> </ul> <h2>What Success Looks Like</h2> In your first 12 months, working in collaboration with the account team: <ul> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">You've become a trusted advisor to senior technical and business leaders in your assigned strategic accounts, and opened conversations with new developer, platform-engineering, and AI teams.</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">You've designed and led 2–3 executive vision-setting or architecture workshops that resulted in documented multi-year roadmaps with Cloudflare as a core platform.</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">You've helped land AI and developer-platform wins.</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">You've built and shared at least one reusable asset, such as a prototype, demo, or reference architecture, that the team uses on its own.</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">You've represented Cloudflare externally, at an industry event or through published guidance.</li> </ul> <h2>Travel</h2> This role will require travel up to 20–50% to attend customer meetings, conferences, industry events, and other in-person team meetings, within the assigned territory.
