They should be able to concisely and accurately share knowledge with their teammates.</span></p></div><h3 data-pm-slice="1 1 []"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">ABOUT THE ROLE:</span></h3> <p>Join the High Power Engineering team supporting xAI to design, build, operate, and maintain electrical infrastructure for AI training campuses. As a Design Engineer on the Data Center team, you will work with a small on-site team to scale high-capacity power systems on a schedule set by compute demand. The position is based in Memphis, TN, with potential travel to other sites.</p> <h3><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">RESPONSIBILITIES:</span></h3> <ul> <li>Produce and maintain single-line diagrams, three-lines, panel schedules, cable schedules, conduit and raceway layouts, grounding plans, and equipment elevations.</li> <li>Perform load calculations, voltage drop, cable ampacity and derating, conduit fill, and pull-tension analysis including long underground runs.</li> <li>Size MV/LV transformers, switchgear, busway, and feeders; specify impedance, BIL, temperature rise, and short-time ratings.</li> <li>Write equipment specifications and technical bid evaluations for ring-main units, transformers, switchgear, busway, and PDUs.</li> <li>Supply model inputs to protection and power-system studies: nameplate data, impedances, cable constants, and as-designed configurations.</li> <li>Resolve field RFIs and issue design changes during construction.</li> <li>Maintain organized design and asset documentation for Data Center electrical packages.</li> <li>Ensure compliance with NFPA 70, 70B, 70E, NESC, and IEEE standards, prioritizing safety and engineering excellence.</li> </ul> <h3><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:</span></h3> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, physics, or another engineering discipline.</li> <li>3+ years of electrical design experience in data center, industrial, or utility facilities.</li> </ul> <h3><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:</span></h3> <ul> <li>Experience producing issued-for-construction drawing sets in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, or Revit.</li> <li>Working knowledge of NEC Articles 110, 215, 240, 250, 310, and 450.</li> <li>Medium-voltage cable system design experience.</li> <li>Experience with power systems analysis software and tools: ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, Matlab, PSCAD, etc.</li> <li>Revit or BIM coordination experience.</li> <li>Engineer in Training certification, or on track for a Professional Engineer license.</li> <li>Experience on a repeated, multi-phase build rather than one-off projects.</li> <li>Demonstrated initiative, creative problem-solving, and strong analytical/engineering fundamentals.</li> </ul> <h3><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><strong>ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS</strong></span></h3> <ul> <li>Perform hands-on work in all environments (heat, cold, rain), in tight quarters or at heights.</li> <li>Work extended hours and weekends as needed to support construction, energization, and operations.</li> <li>Remain focused in hazardous environments while wearing appropriate PPE.</li> <li>Lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted.</li> <li>Provide 24/7 on-call support for emergencies.</li> <li>Willing to work on-site in Memphis, TN.
